But his best form had been in NSW with two minor placings from seven starts in Victoria.

Parliament was supported late in betting, firming from $7 to $5 before taking out the $22,000 Benchmark 64 Hcp (2050m).

Dale said Bryan’s decision to surge to the lead at the 1200m proved to be a race winning move.

“I rate the win as one of his best performances,” Dale said.

“The plan always was to be prominent in the run if we could.

“But Alexandra made a smart decision to find the lead at around the 1200m.

“Once he found the front, he always traveled like a winner.”

Wangaratta gallopers filled the quinella with the Ledger-trained Jane’s Angel 3.5-lengths behind in second spot.

Dale said he hoped Parliament could prove competitive in the mid-tier country cups in the spring.

“He has won country cups previously and those mid-tier cups in NSW are his target races,” he said.

“Especially because of his rating, it is hard to find suitable races for him but he is such an honest horse.”

Meanwhile the Peter Maher-trained Flying Cyril made it back-to-back wins on his home track with victory in the $22,000 Benchmark 58 Hcp, (1200m).

Ridden by claiming apprentice Mikaela Lawrence, Flying Cyril raced prominently over the sprint trip and showed plenty of fight over the concluding stages to edge out Ships Of Dreams.

The seven-year-old has won eight of 35 starts from almost $120,000 in career earnings.

Wodonga and District Turf Club will stage its next meeting on September 15.
