THE Andrew Dale trained Suburbia benefited from a superb Blaike McDougall ride to score his first career win at Albury on Tuesday.

A recent addition to Dale’s Wangaratta based stables, Suburbia was formerly trained by Ciaron Maher and David Eustace.

Suburbia ($8.50) produced a lacklustre performance on debut for Dale when finishing near the tail of the field at Corowa last month.

The son of O’Reilly ran second in a recent trial at Wagga before winning the $22,000 Maiden Hcp, (1175m).

It was the gelding’s 11th career start. “I got it wrong when I decided to run him over 1400m at Corowa first-up from a spell,” Dale said.

“As the old saying goes, hindsight is a wonderful thing.

“But I have redeemed myself a bit today.

“Blaike is in red-hot form and that was another beautiful ride. “Suburbia is my only runner today so to head home one from one is fantastic.”
