Andrew Dale trained Darenay broke through for the first win of his career on Thursday.

The lightly raced five-year claimed victory in the Maiden Handicap (1175m) in Race 2 at Albury.

It was the gelding’s fourth start since joining the stable late last year and 12th overall.

Jockey Qin Yong also registered his first victory on a Dale-trained galloper.

“He came close at Albury two starts ago so we felt like that breakthrough wasn’t far away,” Frazer Dale said.

“It was a good performance and nice ride by Qin Yong who rode his first winner with us.”

Darenay was a $10,000 Inglis Digital tried purchase for owners Ms R J Tatham and Mr P M Knight.

Meanwhile, Delcoff collected his first placing with the stable, finishing third in Race 4.
