ANDREW Dale Racing is looking forward to Saturday’s Dederang Cup meeting where five runners will try their luck.
After last year’s edition was abandoned due to an unsuitable track, the once-a-year meeting returns for the Dederang Picnic Racing Club.
For ADR, Wagunda, Malabar Prince, Berkinson, Garros and Malabar Queen will all go around the recently renovated circuit.
All eyes will be on race five’s cup (1650m) where war horse Garros will run his 88th start from gate eight with Grant Seccombe to take the ride.
Andrew Dale said he’s looking forward to sending horses to the meeting.
“We’re really looking forward to getting to Dederang and supporting their once-a-year meeting,” Dale said.
“They haven’t had much luck in recent years but everything’s looking good this year so hopefully we can go there and come home with a winner.
“The club asked us to gallop a couple of horses up there a few weeks ago to test the track and it was in terrific condition so it should be a good day’s racing this weekend.”
The Dederang Cup is stacked with history that dates back to when races began in the country town in 1865 on a private property at the time.
Located on the side of a hill, the club prides itself on the unique 1650 metre track which steadily rises before descending into the back straight.
