ANDREW Dale Racing has just the five runners in action across the weekend, one of those at Albury today and four at Benalla tomorrow.
Stable star Shooting For Stars will be looking to get back to her winning ways after a lacklustre last start at Wangaratta.
But returning to the track she won at just two starts ago may just be the recipe needed with the four year-old mare to take on race four’s benchmark 58 (1175m) on Albury Gold Cup day at 3pm today.
As is currently stands, Shooting For Stars is a $6 chance, jumping from gate eight with apprentice hoop Brittany Button in the saddle, claiming 4kgs.
“She’s ran three starts the NSW way (clockwise) for three wins so we’re hoping she’ll run well back in Albury,” Dale said.
“We’ve also brought her back in grade from that 66, 64 level to a 58 and she gets down in the weights albeit risking it a bit with an inexperienced jockey.
“She’s drawn barrier seven in an 11 horse field so we’re hoping Britt gets some cover, stays out of trouble and hits the line late.
“Her work has been terrific so there’s no excuses physically at all.”
At Benalla on Saturday for the Euroa Cup meeting, Brenlyn’s Daisy will be looking to break her maiden in race three from a favourable gate (two).
“Brenlyn’s Daisy’s race is strong with two Godolphin horses in it,” Dale said.
“Her performance was improved at Towong though so she comes back to full TAB level, gets a good gate with Cory Parish to ride.”
Race four’s 0-58 sees Eamonn’s Memory looking to improve off the back of a disappointing start at Towong, while Hells Son returns in race five (0-58).
“Eamonn’s Memory was ran off the track at Towong so we trialled him during the week and he trialled beautifully at Wagga,” Dale said.
“We’ve decided to bring him back to 1000m, gets a good gate and I think we’ll ride him a bit quieter so hopefully he’ll finish the race with some speed.
“And Hells Son has been consistent without being spectacular lately.
“He gets an awkward gate (10) so we’ve taken the claim with Britt (Button) to ride because she knows the horse well but we’ll need some luck from out there.”
Garros will take on the Euroa Cup in race six and will need to improve to be in with a chance.
“Garros gets back to 2000m but time’s probably going past him now and he’ll have to show us some improvement to prove us otherwise,” Dale said.
