SPRING has nearly sprung and racing is cranking up.
Andrew Dale Racing has a busy weekend ahead with runners at Canberra synthetic (Friday), Wangaratta (Saturday), Berrigan (Saturday) and Wagga (Monday).
A good crop of chances will feature at Canberra today with Kiss The Bride, Eamonn’s Memory, Mojo Music and College Dropout running.
Eamonn’s Memory and Mojo Music will go toe-to-toe in race six’s benchmark 85 (1206m) and have been listed as $7.50 and $14 chances respectively.
“I think both have each way chances,” Dale said.
“Eamonn’s Memory has shown good form on firmer surfaces so we think the synthetic should suit him and he comes back to 1200m so we’ll look to ride him quieter.
“We’ve learnt a lesson with Mojo Music that he gets a bit keen at 1000m so we’ve stepped him out to 1200m and hopefully will travel kinder.”
Tomorrow’s meeting at Wangaratta shapes as a good day of racing with the track likely to race at a good four.
Crimosa (race six), Bellman (race seven), Coppefield (race seven), Brenlyn’s Trooper (race nine) and Turnaquid (race nine) will all run on their home track.
“The track at Wangaratta looks fantastic and it’s a credit to Greg Brown and his team – they do a great job,” Dale said.
“I think it looks an even book of chances for us at Wangaratta.”
Crimosa will be searching for back-to-back wins after saluting at Narrandera last start, while Copperfield gets a good gate and has been racing well.
“Crimosa’s on the back-up in the benchmark 58 1100m and is down in the weights so if she handles the back-up she should be there abouts,” Dale said.
“We ummed and arred about whether to take Copperfield to Berrigan or Wangaratta but it looks a really nice race at Wangaratta, he gets a good barrier (two) and will be a chance.
“And then Bellman has drawn awkwardly so we might have to ride him differently but he’s been going well.”
Berrigan’s meeting will see four ADR gallopers in action with More Importance (race two), Miss Beautiful (race two), Deploy and Destroy (race four) and Garros (race five) set to run.
Deploy and Destroy looks the pick of the bunch in the 1400m benchmark 50.
“Our best bet at Berrigan would be Deploy and Destroy,” Dale said.
“More Importance and Miss Beautiful are both running well too and I’m hoping Garros goes well because the form behind Ben Brisbourne’s Fifi Blue in his last start looks good.
“He was around five or six lengths off Fifi Blue at Gundagai who went to Sandown on Wednesday and ran well.”
And on Monday at Wagga, Mescaminto gets gate six in race seven’s benchmark 66 (1400m).
Apprentice Brittany Button is booked to ride and claims three kilograms with the seven-year-old mare set to travel with 56.5kgs.
“Mescaminto comes up in class but gets a good gate, down in the weights and is racing well,” Dale said.
“She has good form on those softer tracks too.”
