ADR Magic Millions purchase Forgotten Spirit will tackle the first assignment of her career tonight.
After a last start trial win, the two-year-old Spirit Of Boom filly will now run at Aquis Park under lights tonight in race five’s $250,000 Magic Millions The Debut (1000m).
A finish in the top two would likely qualify her for a run on Magic Millions Classic Day next month but if she fails to do that it’s not the be all and end all.
Andrew Dale said it’s exciting to be running in a big race.
“Everyone at the stable has been involved with this horse so it’s very exciting,” Dale said.
“From Adrian Corboy who broke her in, to Kylie and Britt our track riders and all the other staff who have done a great job in getting her to this point.
“We then sent her to Scott Morrissey who has been looking after her in Queensland and has done a great job.
“She’ll race in our stable colours tonight too which is great.”
After opening at $21, Forgotten Spirit had been backed into $8.50 on Friday morning.
She won her first jump out at Wangaratta before heading to Queensland where she finished third in her first official trial before saluting in her most recent.
“She’s trialled beautifully,” Dale said.
“She has been a bit revvy and forward going though so hopefully she can relax a bit tonight and even that will be tough because it’s a meeting under lights and a fairly big occasion.
“I’m really looking forward to seeing how she goes.”
The nicely bred filly has drawn gate five with Georgina Cartwright (55kg) booked to ride.
“She’s drawn a perfect barrier for a forward-type horse,” Dale said.
“Going off her trials she’ll probably go forward and hopefully she can settle and get in a nice rhythm from there.”
A top two finish would likely qualify her for a Magic Millions run, however, there’s a Plan B if that doesn’t eventuate.
“I’d say a top two finish would qualify her for a run on Magic Millions Day,” Dale said.
“If that doesn’t happen though there are other entry options that we can look at.
“There’s a race called the Gold Pearl in a couple of weeks (January 4) which is a two-year-old filly’s race so we’ve got a back-up plan there.”
