Mescaminto has returned to the winners list by saluting at Benalla on Sunday.

The pre-race favourite delivered on her short odds to claim a narrow victory in the 0-58 Handicap (1606m).

Mescaminto sat second at the 800m and led at the 400m before holding off Munsa Magic at the line.

It was the third career for the five-year-old mare and also the third win by jockey Jack Hill on an ADR galloper.

Racing manager Frazer Dale said it was a great result.

“She’s had a few near misses with four minor placings in her previous seven starts, so it was good to get a winning result here today,” he said.

The stable’s next assignments will come this Friday with runners at Gundagai and then Moonee Valley.
