AN ADR duo will be out to defend the stable’s 2024 Tumbarumba Cup crown on Saturday.
After Eamonn’s Memory saluted in last year’s edition of the cup, Mojo Music and Kiss The Bride are now looking to keep the title in Wangaratta.
The Tumbarumba Turf Club and Holbrook and District Race Club have teamed up to attract more horses to their meetings adding an incentive.
If a horse is good enough to take out both 1400m feature races a fortnight apart, connections of the winning horse will win a $4000 cash bonus provided by the clubs.
Andrew Dale said the Tumbarumba Cup meeting is one the stable always looks forward to.
“It’s a great country meeting and one we always want to be involved in,” Dale said.
“The Tumbarumba Cup is one we were chasing for a few years so it was great to finally win one with Eamonn’s Memory last year.
“That win seemed to spark Eamonn’s Memory into action too, that was his first of the prep and he went on to win seven so it just goes to show that no matter where you are a win can bring confidence.”
Mojo Music comes into the feature after finishing three lengths away in a benchmark 70 at Wodonga and had a promising jump out at Wangaratta on January 23 where he won his heat.
But it hasn’t been the best start to the preparation with his best a fifth-place finish at Albury from three starts.
Dale’s hopeful the six-year-old gelding can find some form.
“He needs to find his mojo, no pun intended,” he said.
“He’s been a bit disappointing this prep but he jumped out without blinkers and won his heat at Wangaratta last week so hopefully that’s a good sign.
“With his rating always around the high 60s he’s been a hard horse to place so we feel that these country cups may be a good option for him.
“They’ve added an additional $4000 for a horse that can win both the Tumbarumba and Holbrook Cups so the plan is that he’ll have a crack at both.”
