The Andrew Dale stable has opened its account for the new racing season with Chairman’s Choice saluting at Wodonga on Saturday.
After three minor placings since joining the stable, Chairman’s Choice delivered his first win in his fourth start under the ADR banner by claiming yesterday’s Benchmark 58 Handicap (1100m).
The six-year-old gelding beat home pre-race favourite, the Ben and JD Hayes trained Fast Sagrado by three and a quarter lengths, to collect a fourth career win.
Racing Manager Frazer Dale said a patient ride from Jake Duffy was the key to the result.
“He’s been sprinting well for us and whilst his pedigree and form suggests he wants further, we’ve kept him fresh and stayed over the sprint distances and he’s really thriving,” Dale said.
“That turn of foot was exceptional today and I think we will see him winning again based on today’s performance, he was quite dominant.”
Chairman’s Choice was a $7,500 purchase on Inglis Digital in the May late sale and has returned over $20,000 in prize money for connections so far.
Malabar Jack kicked off the day at Wodonga by running third in the 3YO Maiden Plate (1200).
