Crusheen Lass made an immediate impact for Andrew Dale Racing with a tough first-up win at Gundagai on Saturday, saluting in the Benchmark 50 Handicap over 1700m on a testing Heavy 9 surface.

Having only joined the stable recently, the five-year-old mare wasted no time showcasing her talent and resilience, grinding out a strong performance to claim her second career victory.

Starting at generous odds of $16, Crusheen Lass travelled sweetly in running before producing a sustained effort in the straight to hold off her rivals and secure a memorable result for her connections.

By Ace High out of the well-bred Zabeel mare Kilfenora, Crusheen Lass boasts an impressive pedigree with genuine staying potential on both sides. She was a $60,000 purchase from the NZB Karaka Yearling Sale, and Saturday’s win suggests she’s beginning to live up to that early promise.

“She hasn’t been with us long but she’s settled in well, and we were confident she’d handle the heavy conditions,” trainer Andrew Dale said post-race. “She showed plenty of determination, and there looks to be more wins in store as she builds confidence.”
