Eamonn’s Memory is after a confidence building Carrathool Cup victory today.

After a breakout preparation last year, the six-year-old gelding hasn’t reached the lofty heights of that period that saw him win seven times over a three month stretch.

Since returning from a spell, Eamonn’s Memory has run four times with his best result a fifth-place finish (2.3L) in the Towong Cup.

The gelding is set to be partnered with hoop Amy O’Driscoll, with the pair jumping from an ideal gate one.

Andrew Dale’s hopeful his star can add some more silverware to the collection.

“The Carrathool Cup shapes as a great race for Eamonn’s Memory to find some confidence,” Dale said.

“He’s been up in grade this prep and while his form looks disappointing on paper he’s only been beaten between two and five lengths so he’s not going that bad.

“He comes back to a race like this with good prize money where we hope he can find some confidence which might spark his prep.”

Eamonn’s Memory hadn’t won for 14 starts before last year’s form was sparked by a 1.5L victory in a 0-58 handicap at Wangaratta.

He then went on to win another six times, pocketing the Tumbarumba and Griffifth Cups, while he also finished a close second at a Saturday Morphettville meeting.

Could a Carrathool Cup win be the race that gets Eamonn’s Memory back on track?
