Last Saturday at Wangaratta, Fortis In Armis delivered a sharp second-up victory for the Andrew Dale Racing team – just weeks after being purchased for $600 through Inglis Digital’s online sale platform.
The five-year-old gelding was snapped up by Dale with a single bid, as the stable searched for budget stayers to train through the winter. In just his second run for the team, he produced a strong finish to win by half a length under jockey Corey Parish.
“We purchased him online looking for some horses that could get over a bit of ground throughout the winter,” Dale said. “He arrived in good condition and we noticed some improvement within the stables.”
After a solid first-up effort over an unsuitable trip at Gundagai, Fortis In Armis was well placed over 1300m at Wangaratta – and the market agreed. He was well supported, firming from $17 into $12 on the Victorian Official Price.
“The 1300m at Wang shaped nicely and he sprinted well fresh,” Dale said. “He had a blowout first-up and that brought him on well for this.”
Parish timed his run to perfection, with Fortis In Armis powering to the line and giving Dale yet another success story from Inglis Digital.
Andrew Dale Racing has built a strong record with online purchases, regularly turning budget buys into race-day winners.
“He’s a great example of the value you can still find online,” Dale added. “We’ve had good success through Inglis Digital and hopefully Fortis In Armis is another one we can continue to build with.”
