Andrew Dale’s newest addition Lawton Joseph has started his career under the Albury trainer in impressive fashion with a first up victory.
Making his debut for Dale at Wagga on August 30, the 4 year old gelding won on a heavy track in the Harvey Norman Maiden Plate (1200m).
It was an impressive Australian debut after Andrew Dale Racing purchased the son of Bachelor Duke from New Zealand trainer Kevin Myers in July.
The Dale stable has acquired three horses from Myers, Lautaro the most notable having won four races to date since arriving in Australia while Biding Time continues to progress.
Dale said Lawton Joseph looks to have a promising future having been impressed with his early work.
“We picked him out of some impressive trials and a solid debut performance at Riccarton,” he said.
“He was recommended to us by Kevin who has been a fantastic connection for us.”
Of his run at Wagga with John Kissick on-board, Dale said the horse was strong from barrier 11.
“His work at home had been exceptional and we were confident he would run well,” he said.
“He drew wide had a tough run but was confidently handled by John Kissick who has a very good record when he rides on our horses.”
Dale said that Lawton Joseph enjoyed the heavy conditions at Wagga and he is excited to see the four year-old build on the outing.
There are still shares available in Lawton Joseph.
