Racing returns to Albury today where Little Red Devil and Lawton Joseph will make starts for Andrew Dale Racing.
Little Red Devil will contest the Benchmark 65 over 1400m and will start from barrier seven carrying 57.5kgs and with Jake Duffy onboard.
Duffy said for LRD it is all about putting in a strong performance and getting ready to strike either second or third up over 1600m.
“He’s feeling well within himself and 1400m on Saturday is going to be a really good kick-off mark for him,” he said.
“We would like to see an encouraging performance and then move him to the mile second and third up.
“He’s got enough miles in his legs now and he will be looking to do his best work late in the race.”
Lawton Joseph will make his second start this preparation running in the Class 3 Handicap over 1600m.
Trainer Andrew Dale said to progress to the Highway Class 3 (1800m) at Randwick in two weeks’ time the five year-old will need to perform well.
“He has had a strong build up to1600m and both Jake and myself could not be happier with him as we step up to the mile for the first time in his career,” Dale said.
“Jake will ride LJ nice and quiet as we have again drawn a sticky gate starting in barrier eight of 11.
“We will make sure that he travels nice and kind in the run and is strong late, this is no doubt the best way to ride him from the wide draw.”
