Three-year-old gelding Shiny Rock has collected his first win capturing the Maiden Handicap (1400m) at Albury.

After missing the start by close to 13 lengths the gelding came from last in the 14-horse field to salute by a half-length.

Experienced jockey Joe Bowditch was impressed by Shiny Rock’s performance.

“Terrific win, he was stuck in the barriers and we’d missed the start hopelessly,” he said.

“I thought we might be able to pick them up and beat a couple home.

“The further the race went the stronger he got, it was a great win.”

Shiny Rock was purchased in the Inglis Digital February Late Sale by ROI Bloodstock for $4,250.
